HSBC initiated the renovation of an existing library building at the Queen Sirikit Memorial Park, Ladkrabang, Bangkok.

The purpose of the facility was to promote self-learning amongst Thai students. Areas are also dedicated to educating the local community and other visitors about green building principles.
Spaces include a main library area, reception area, a multipurpose space and a kids/magazine room.

EEC Lincolne Scott donated MEP services to the HSBC Green Library as a corporate social responsibility project.

Features of the building include mixed mode ventilation design, which allows for the minimisation of air conditioning energy in some areas. The design comfort temperatures were also increased to provide cool, but not over conditioned, spaces.

Efficient refrigeration equipment with reduced refrigerant charge was selected to minimise ozone depletion. The air conditioning system is designed to to deliver a 30% improvement in outdoor air rates against the required standard.

CO2 sensors were also installed to ensure that air quality was maintained in densely occupied spaces.

All lighting fixtures form part of an addressable lighting system, which is automatically controlled by energy monitoring software. Daylight sensors were also utilised to reduce electricity consumption from lighting when ambient lighting levels were sufficient.

To reduce potable water consumption and sewage conveyance, high efficiency sanitary fixtures – including waterless urinals - were installed. Rainwater was also collected off the building and stored for reuse in irrigation.

A building automation system which monitored energy performance was installed to provide ongoing feedback and opportunities for continual energy performance improvement.

The completed development is approximately 404m2.
